Halloween

Koralyn, Darren and I carved pumpkins a few weeks ago. Unfortunately k's pumpkin already rotted...

Of course the first step is to clean out the pumpkins. Darren cut the tops off and Koralyn and I did some internal work on them. We separated the seeds...Darren makes YUMMY pumpkin seeds!!!

The insides of the pumpkin are quite gooey and slimy, which Koralyn kept reminding us. Eventually she left us to do the "dirty" work and started focusing her energy on getting the perfect pumpkin face.

She did a great job with the carving knife ~ and had a good instructor, too! Koralyn drew a typical pumpkin face with the triangle eyes and nose, and a big pumpkin grin!

The finished product...

We went to a Halloween party at Angie and Nate's house Saturday night (Oct 30th). Koralyn had been asking for over two months to be Jessie from Toy Story for Halloween. I assumed she would change her mind, as she has done every year so far. But when we went to the Halloween store a couple weeks ago, I asked her once again (for about the 10th time) what she wanted to dress up as: "Mom, do I have to tell you AGAIN I want to be Jessie?" All-righty, then, Jessie it is!!!

Koralyn was quite irritated with the wig, but insisted on having red hair, just like Jessie. The wig was itchy, and every time she itched, the wig would move and her real hair would start to show. Eventually she decided to "just deal with it". Darren also sewed her wig to the hat; the hat was too big and wouldn't stay on k's head, even with the wig. Fortunately Darren is very resourceful and found the ultimate solution to our problem!

Ironically Angie and Nate's little boy, Austin, was dressed as Woody. Koralyn and Austin made an adorable "couple"!

Nate and Angie bought a PiƱata full of candy. It took several rounds of the kids hitting it (and Nate punching it when the kids weren't looking) to finally break it open - then came the mad dash for the candy!!!

Koralyn had a basket FULL of tootsie rolls!

Angie had a surprise of her own...her and Nate are expecting their second child!!! She is only about six weeks along, so only family and close friends know about it. How exciting!!!
